OUR STORY

From a hobby to a bussiness

At age 14, Mariam immigrated to Canada from Pakistan. In the beginning, Mariam was intimidated by the new school, new language, and new culture. She felt lonely and wanted to make friends. So one day, Mariam brought her Henna to school and asked her classmates if they would like to have a Henna tattoo. And that is the story of how Mariam made friends and adapted in Canada. Mariam is enthusiastic about connecting with people through Henna. Therefore, Henna By Batool was found. Each summer, Mariam would rent a booth at various Farmer's Markets to sell her Henna arts. As the Henna service business evolved, Mariam now does Henna tattoos for parties and other celebrations. To learn more, click on the "Service" tab.

WHAT IS HENNA?

Henna tattoos are originated in Pakistan, India, Africa, and the Middle East. During the old days, people would make a paste out of the dried leaves of Henna plants and apply them to their palms and feet to cool off their heat. Because the Henna paste would leave a stain on the body, people soon came up with the idea of drawing patterns with the Henna paste, adding a decorative purpose. In various cultures and religions, Henna is used for celebrations and rites of passage. However, anyone can get a Henna tattoo. It is a form of body art that can be enjoyed by everyone, across cultures, gender, or age.

How It Works?

Once your Henna design is done, it usually dries within 5-10 minutes. However, we recommend that you keep the design on as long as possible! The longer the Henna paste is on your skin, the darker and long-lasting the design will be! After the Henna has been on your skin long enough, you can then wash it off. And voilà! There you go your Henna tattoo!
